What is a Mandela Effect?

A large group of people remember Nelson Mandela dying in prison and his wife giving a speech about his death. Most people remember him living till he was freed from his unjust imprisonment. These group "mis-rememberings" are seen by many as evidence that we are shifting into different universes where small details are changed.
